Leading Research in Africa for Africa

To promote equity in health and opportunity for all people.

CREID ECA — a regional research network under Washington State University Global Health Kenya — works to detect, understand, and prevent infectious diseases that emerge where humans, animals, and the environment intersect.
Who We Are

The Centers for Research in Emerging Infectious Diseases – East and Central Africa (CREID ECA)

CREID – ECA is part of a global initiative led by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). Hosted by WSU Global Health Kenya, CREID ECA unites scientists, veterinarians, and public health experts from across East and Central Africa to strengthen regional capacity against zoonotic and emerging diseases.

Our Focus:
We study how infectious diseases originate, spread, and evolve — working at the frontlines of the human-animal-environment interface to build stronger surveillance and response systems

Come join us

We believe lasting solutions to global health challenges come from strong local expertise. CREID ECA supports scientists, field officers, and health professionals
